TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph
Made famous by Steve McQueen, who wore the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph in the 1971 movie ‘Le Mans’, it has quickly become one of the most recognisable pieces in the world of watches.
Initially launched in 1969 as the Heuer Monaco, ref. 1133B, it has seen many iterations and variations since, even versions with the crown at 3 o’clock. However, it has always remained true to its original design.
While its uniquely shaped case and subdials give it a distinctive look, the Monaco is a true Chronograph, with the latest version, ref. CAW211P.FC6356, providing the following specs:
39mm brushed and polished steel case
Crown at 9 o’clock with pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock
Chronograph function
Date complication
Scratch-resistant sapphire crystal
Calibre 11 Automatic movement
40hr power reserve
Leather strap
An acquired taste?
While the case shape and overall design might not be for everyone, they will attract those who love Chronographs but want something unique and different. The Monaco is exactly that, and with its many variations and available editions, it provides even more room to stand out.
